Oliver Lee Memorial State Park

This popular 640 acre state park in the New Mexico Mountains is perfect for camping, hiking, and swimming in the natural pools!  It is made up of a canyon in the Sacramento Mountains and Oliver Lee’s historic 19th century house.  Don’t miss the great views on a hike around Dog Canyon Trail. 

Sierra Blanca

The Sierra Blanca is a range of historic volcanic mountains that range about 40 miles in length and are 20 miles wide!  The highest mountain in the range is Sierra Blanca Peak, which soars at almost 12,000 feet!  This is a great place to enjoy the fresh clean mountain air while hiking, mountain biking, or skiing!

Almeda Park Zoo

The Alameda Park Zoo is a family oriented wildlife center, although small, boasts lots of diversity.  Founded in 1898, it is the oldest zoo in the Southwestern United States!  You will find a variety of animals from raptors, to the Mexican Gray wolf, which the zoo is involved with the Species Survival Plan for.  The zoo prides itself on being aesthetically pleasing, a natural environment, and promoting education in the environmental and conservation studies. Admission is only $2.50, so it’s a perfect way to spend an afternoon!

Ski Cloudcroft

Don’t worry about winter in the area…. There is still plenty to do!  Head over to Ski Cloudcroft and enjoy skiing, snowboarding and tubing for all ages and levels!  This is a great place for the whole family and has 25 ski trails and 3 ski lifts.  They offer skiing lessons for groups or individuals and have equipment rentals as well.
