Top 3 Fishing Spots in Navajo County

Fishing might not be what pops into your head when you think of Arizona….. But maybe it should be!  There are several rivers and reservoirs in Navajo county that are definitely worth a trip out to one of these fishing hot spots to try your luck with rod and reel! 

Little Colorado River

The Little Colorado River offers anglers a rare trout fishing opportunity for a federally threatened species: the Apache trout.This river in Arizona is a beautiful mountain stream that is formed by springs. The high pH of the water makes the perfect habitat for sustaining a good population of trout.

The Little Colorado start high in the White Mountains of Arizona and there are several areas that provide good access to this small stream. This stream flows through the town of Greer, Arizona and has easy access in and around town. There is also some private water called the X-Diamond Ranch just downstream of Greer that is worth a visit. This is a very small stream, but there are some good fish that are found every year!

Clear Creek Reservoir 

Clear Creek Reservoir is a 45 acre lake south of the town of Winslow.  It offers excellent fishing for rainbow trout, carp, sunfish, channel catfish, and largemouth bass. 

Clear Creek Reservoir is a beautiful reservoir and creek, and it has a  nice and relaxing atmosphere. Trout is abundant and there is a lot of wildlife including deer, mountain goats, chipmunks, ground squirrels, moles, hummingbirds and blue jays.  Its a great family place to spend the day fishing, make sure you bring a picnic to enjoy along the shores!

5 mile reservoir

Five Mile Reservoir is a reservoir located just 4.5 miles from Holbrook, in Navajo County.  Whether you’re fly fishing, spinning or baitcasting your chances of getting a bite here are good. So grab your favorite fly fishing rod and reel, and head out to Five Mile Reservoir and spend the day!
