Mobile homes manufactured prior to 1976 are prohibited in unincorporated Costilla County. Any mobile or manufactured home must comply with county code requirements, meet applicable industry standards, and be safe and habitable. An individual mobile home used as a single-family dwelling and not located within a mobile home park is subject to administrative review and may not be used as an accessory, temporary, or storage structure.
Camping & RV Rules
Camping is allowed on the property, though longer stays are regulated. Use of an RV or camping shelter beyond 14 days within any consecutive 3-month period requires a Long-Term Camping Permit. RV use also requires proper hook-up permits where applicable. RVs may not be used for storage or as permanent dwellings, and living in an RV is not permitted beyond temporary travel, recreation, or vacation use.
